Nancy Mendes, RHIT

Nancy joined HQSI in its early days, when it was the quality improvement organization for the state of New Jersey, and has progressively increased her responsibilities in clinical medical review, quality improvement, data quality, coding and utilization. She is currently responsible for managing and growing the URAC accredited Independent Review Services offering.

Previously she was the Director of Clinical Assessment, which included overseeing the operations of the Clinical Assessment/utilization and coding review for many of HQSI’s review contracts, including Medicare and Medicaid, and Medical Records Departments. Under HQSI’s contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), she has also been a Task Leader responsible for improving beneficiary safety and health through clinical quality improvement in the physician offices, nursing home, home health, and hospital settings, and special CMS projects. During that time she was also responsible for directing the activities of the Hospital Payment Monitoring Program. Earlier, she was a data quality manager and a data assurance specialist. Nancy is credentialed as a Registered Health Information Technician through the American Health Information Management Association.
