Andrew Miller, MD, MPH

Dr. Andrew Miller is Medical Director at Healthcare Quality Strategies, Inc., (HQSI) and leads HQSI’s statewide efforts to improve coordination of care for patients across healthcare settings and to reduce avoidable hospitalizations. From 2008-2011 he was the co-leader of HQSI’s successful New Jersey Care Transitions project, which was part of a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services pilot undertaken by 14 state quality improvement organizations and since 2011 he has co-led the HQSI’s care coordination work. Dr. Miller currently also serves as the care coordination task lead for the Quality Insights Quality Innovation Network, the Medicare quality innovation network-quality improvement organization (QIN-QIO) for Delaware, Louisiana, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. He frequently speaks about transitions of care issues and serves on related advisory committees hosted by other stakeholders in the state. Dr. Miller is also involved in providing oversight of the activities of HQSI’s Physician Reviewers. From April 2013-July 2014 Dr. Miller also served as the Chief Medical Officer of the Integrating Care for Populations & Communities National Coordinating Center based at the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care.

Before joining HQSI in 1995, Dr. Miller worked at the New Jersey Department of Health for 14 years. Dr. Miller, who is board certified in Public Health and General Preventive Medicine, is a graduate of Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons and earned his MPH at the Harvard School of Public Health. He is currently a member of the New Jersey Hospital Association/Health Research and Educational Trust Hospital Engagement Network Steering Committee, the Health Research and Educational Trust (HRET) of New Jersey Continuing Medical Education Committee, the New Jersey Primary Care Physician and Dentist Loan Redemption Program Steering Committee and Selection Committee, and the New Jersey Chronic Disease Advisory Council.Expert
